The Book- Breathless Sleep…no more
The 2nd edition of the book covers a 10 year period of my life. During that period I become aware of why the quality of my health was so poor. The book charts my journey of discovery and what I did to correct my breathing and, in doing so, regain control of my health. It also covers my initial training as a Breathing Re-educator.Breathless Sleep…no more is directed to people who either suffer from sleep apnoea or a breathing disorder which is affecting their sleep. It will benefit them and their partners, spouses, family and friends. It will explain how and why sleep apnoea happened to me.
The 2nd edition also contains:
- A new chapter on the benefits of my tongue-tie release
- A new section on the scientific research and benefits of nitric oxide including its role as the 3rd gas in our respiratory cycle
- Updated and revised information and research
The book gives an insight into the breathing method I was taught. But it is not a formal user guide. It is my personal narrative of the roller coaster journey that sleep apnoea took me on.
The book has been described by Patrick McKeown, in his Foreword, as follows:
Breathless Sleep…no more is not just Paul’s account of his journey to getting a good night’s sleep. It is an account of the tools to help you get a good night’s sleep.
It is my hope that readers will be inspired and empowered to take control of their health.
Breathless Sleep…no more has the power to transform the quality of your health and of your life – as it has transformed mine.

The listener will hear about my struggle with severe obstructive sleep apnoea and my eventual success in controlling this debilitating condition. I discuss what sleep apnoea is and why it is a problem for both the individual and for society. For many decades I was unaware of my condition. I recount those incidents where sleep apnoea regularly impacted my mental and physical health.
Many people are unaware of the poor quality of their sleep. In fact, when an apnoea finishes it is accompanied by a gasping inhale which drags the sleeper to near consciousness though they often remain asleep. This explains why it often takes a long time for sleepers to accept that they have a sleeping issue which needs to be investigated.
My initial denial of my condition leads to treatment by conventional means before learning a scientifically based method of breathing. The listener is taken down a path of anticipation, hope, despair, resolution and then new hope and symptom resolution.
My story discusses some of the physiological aspects of our respiratory system and the science-based method which enabled me to significantly control the effects of sleep apnoea. The listener will gain a clear insight into the missing pieces from the jigsaw which completed the picture of my respiratory health.
The listener will also gain access to pdf. copies of my sleep studies and “before and after” photographs taken over a nine-month period.
